I think I tweeted this, but when I was waking up from my tonsillectomy - and I always come out of general anesthesia happy and high and chirping like a Disney bluebird for some reason - there was an old guy next to me who had obviously had some sort of procedure on his nose or sinuses. He was begging the nurses for morphine. The nurse informed him that his procedure did not warrant morphine. “How about cocaine, then?”, he wheedled pathetically. I caught the eye of one of the nurses and we both started giggling uncontrollably.
